Error description

• IBM Spectrum Protect Plus archive job to a cloud
  or Spectrum
  Protect repository server fails with
  the following error in
  the job log.
  
  
  CTGGA0085,Unable to update partner to <vsnap
  addr>.
  Error Failed to create vSnap cloud Offload message
  
  :"Cloud functionality disabled: Data disk /opt/vsnap-data
  is
  not configured"type :"PartnerDataDiskError"
  
  The error occurs
  if there is no cloud cache file
  system mounted under
  /opt/vsnap-data. By default,
  OVA-based deployments of the
  vSnap server have a
  preconfigured cloud cache area mounted at
  
  /opt/vsnap-data. But custom deployments of the vSnap
  server
  on a physical or virtual system may be missing
  this mount
  point. The cloud cache is required only for
  copy to cloud or
  repository servers. It is not required
  for archive operations,
  but due to an incorrect check
  the archive operation can fail
  if the cache area is not
  present.

Local fix

• As a work around you can skip the check by setting this
  flag
  on the vSnap SERVER:
  
  vsnap system pref set --name
  cloudRequireDataDisk --value false
  
  vSnap server reboot is not
  required
  
  NOTE: Once you apply the fixing level, the setting
  should
   be reverted to prevent problems that may occur.
  
   The
  command to revert the change is:
  
  "vsnap system pref clear
  --name cloudRequireDataDisk".
  
   The Vsnap does not have to be
  restarted.

Problem conclusion

• Implemented a code fix in vSnap to skip checking for the cloud
  cache area during archive jobs. The cache area is required only
  for copy jobs, not archive, so the check is now performed only
  during copy jobs.
