Error description

  • It is possible for db2explain to cause a FMP trap with the
    following stack trace:

      0x090000001372C8B8 printSQLStmt__FR10RunOptionslPcbT4T2 +
    0x598
      0x09000000137307BC processDynamic__FR10RunOptions + 0x83C
      0x0900000013728E6C doExplain__FR10RunOptions + 0xC0C
      0x0900000013725810 explain + 0x1030
      0x090000003B1325BC IPRA.$sqlerRunRoutine__FP13sqleInvokerCBPi
    + 0x4DC
      0x090000003B131D94 sqlerDyload + 0x214
      0x090000003B0736B8 sqlerFmpListener + 0x658
      0x00000001000021AC main + 0x108C

    Conditions for that are:

      - The statement to explain is on multiple lines and contains
non escaped newline characters (\n). db2expln does NOT support
    this.
      - The statement must contain multiple sets of '(/)'.

Local fix

  • Workaround:
Make sure the newline characters are escaped (usually adding \
in front of it) so that we don't split the statement into
    multiple statements.
