Starting with version 10.1.6, the backup of Microsoft SQL or Exchange databases using IBM Spectrum Protect Plus might stop with the messages : CTGGA3090 ... '[... validation failed reason: [The parameter is incorrect]]' Here is an example of job log messages for a first base backup attempt of a Microsoft Exchange database : The database files are stored on volume C:\mnt\db The log files on volume C:\mnt\db_log SUMMARY,<timestamp>CTGGA2398,Starting job for policy exch_<SLAName> (ID:<SLA_ID>). id -> <JobID>. DETAIL,<timestamp>,CTGGA3714,[<ExchangeServerAddress>] Volume (\\?\Volume{<GUID_vol1>}\ C:\mnt\db\) runs as Base Backup reason: no prior USN information DETAIL,<timestamp>,CTGGA3714,[<ExchangeServerAddress>] Volume (\\?\Volume{<GUID_vol2>}\ C:\mnt\db_log\) runs as Base Backup reason: no prior USN information ERROR,<timestamp>,CTGGA3090,[<ExchangeServerAddress>] Group \ copy failed. Error: [Source file [\\?\GLOBALROOT\ Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy <xx>\<filename>] validation failed reason: [The parameter is incorrect]] ERROR,<timestamp>,CTGGG1010,[<ExchangeServerAddress>] Failed to copy files to the mounted target volume. ERROR,<timestamp>,CTGGG1116,[<ExchangeServerAddress>] Agent failed to properly finalize the Exchange VSS backup. The above 'copy failed' message will be seen when there are database or log files located in the root of the used database/log volumes. The validation of the snapshot data used for backups is incorrectly done by the code and fails when encountering files in the root location of the database or log volumes from which the snapshot was taken.
