IT35297: REDUCING THE PVC SIZE BETWEEN BACKUPS CAUSES THE RESTORE OF A LATEST BACKUP TO FAIL

Error description

  • After reducing the PVC size for an application and creating a
new backup with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus,
the restore of the latest backup will fail with:
The size of the volume 10737418240 is smaller than the volume
image 21474836480.

Affected versions: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.6 and later

Local fix

  • When recreating an application with reduced PVC size, delete the
complete namespace and recreate the application from scratch to
avoid this problem.

Problem conclusion

  • In the fixed level the changed size on copy backup will be
detected and a new full copy of the PVC will be created.
