Error description

  • Since upgrading to Sterling Integrator V6000200 There are large
    amounts of the following messages logged to the
    system.log.<Date and time>:

    000110010846 WORKFLOW.WORKFLOW.ERR_Document_setUserLifeSpan
    [Document].setUserLifeSpan() Unable to insert/update document
    user lifespan
    
    There is no additional information to link to a
    particular issue to rectify.
    
    Observations:
    
    This was a known
    issue in Versions older than 5.2.6 where an APAR was issued
    (IT00772: UNEXPLAINED ERROR IN SYSTEM LOG) and released in
    V5.2.6.
    
    The APAR was meant to add additional information into
    the error message to track down root cause. The above message
    does not appear to have any additional information or
    associated additional messages in any other logs.
    
    This
    customer system logs have a very large amount of these messages
    every hour.
    
    I was unable to find other messages in other logs
    that may have consistently have linked to these messages.

Problem conclusion

    A code fix is provided.
    
    
    
    Errors mentioned in the description are logged as DEBUG info and
    provides enough information about the operations, such as the
    count of rows deleted. Other details, such as the document id
    and workflow id will now be logged. Also, the actual error
    message will only be logged when insert/update fails.
    
    
    
    Result. The issue is fixed.
