Error description
The Redistributable Managed File Transfer command 'fteCreateEnvironment' adds 4 directories to the start of the PATH environment variable every time it is run in the working environment, even when invoked to display the help text with the command: fteCreateEnvironment -h For example, if the fteCreateEnvironment.cmd file is located in the directory: <MFTredistAgent>\bin the following directories will be added to the start of the PATH environment variable: <MFTredistAgent>\java\lib64; <MFTredistAgent>\mqft\lib; <MFTredistAgent>\bin; <MFTredistAgent>\bin64; <ORIGINAL_PATH_VALUE> If the command is run again in the same environment, these directories are again added to the PATH environment variable: <MFTredistAgent>\java\lib64; <MFTredistAgent>\mqft\lib; <MFTredistAgent>\bin; <MFTredistAgent>\bin64; <MFTredistAgent>\java\lib64; <MFTredistAgent>\mqft\lib; <MFTredistAgent>\bin; <MFTredistAgent>\bin64; <ORIGINAL_PATH_VALUE>
Local fix
Closing the current command prompt/Shell Session, and opening a new one will restore the PATH environment variable to its default setting.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: This issue affects users of the Redistributable Managed File Transfer command: fteCreateEnvironment Platforms affected: Windows, Linux on x86-64 **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Redistributable Managed File Transfer command: fteCreateEnvironment is used to configure the current working environment (eg. the shell) to be able to use the Managed File Transfer commands. One of the ways in which the environment is configured is by updating the local PATH environment variable, so that the Managed File Transfer commands are then available for use. Every time 'fteCreateEnvironment' was run, it would prepend the Managed File Transfer locations to the PATH environment variable, irrespective of if the PATH variable already contained the values. This also happened when the command was used to display the help information, using the syntax: fteCreateEnvironment -h For example, if the fteCreateEnvironment/fteCreateEnvironment.cmd file in in <MFTredistAgent>\bin directory, the following directories will be added to the beginning of the PATH environment variable: Windows: <MFTredistAgent>\java\lib64 <MFTredistAgent>\mqft\lib <MFTredistAgent>\bin <MFTredistAgent>\bin64 Linux: <MFTredistAgent>/bin
Problem conclusion
The fteCreateEnvironment command has been updated so that is only adds the Redistributable Managed File Transfer installation directories to the PATH environment variable if they are not already present. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v9.1 LTS 9.1.0.8 v9.2 LTS 9.2.0.3 v9.x CD 9.2.3 The latest available MQ maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
