IT34739: MOUSE HOVERING AND LEAVING IT AT THE PCOMM OIA CAUSES THE CPU USAGE TO SPIKE UP.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Customer reported that every time they mouse hover and leave it
    there at the leftmost side of OIA causes the CPU spikes up in
    processes as indicated in the Windows Task Manager. This is
    where MA (SNA type connection notification) and the Session
    letter is displayed. Moving the mouse away the CPU goes back to
    zero. Affected version of PComm are v14.0.2, v14.0.1 and 13.0.2
    (32 bit).
    

Local fix

  • Move the mouse away from the OIA. PComm users need to be
    mindful not to leave the mouse pointer at the leftmost side of
    the OIA.

    Below are the steps to reproduce the problem:
    
    1. Launch the PCOMM 5250 session
    2. Move the mouse position to OIA control area
    3. Mouse hover on any one of information columns
    4. It will be display the corresponding the tooltip and check
    the CPU spike of PCSWS using task manager
    

Problem conclusion

  • PCSWS.EXE changes have been made to display tooltip only once
    even though the mouse hover is on the same column.
