Error description

  • After removing a fix pack package on Solaris, the file system
permissions on the directory:

    $MQ_INSTALLATION_PATH/java/jre64

and its contents are are incorrectly set to be writable by the
'mqm' user.

It is expected that this directory and its contents are set to
be read-only.

USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users who apply fix pack maintenance for the
JRE component of an MQ installation, and then remove that
maintenance.


Platforms affected:
Solaris SPARC, Solaris x86-64

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A logic omission meant that the backed-up copy of the JRE from
the earlier MQ installation did not have its correct permissions
restored when the fix pack updates to the directory were rolled
back.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The MQ fix pack install images for the JRE component on Solaris
have been updated to correctly restore permissions when the fix
pack is removed.

Please note that this correction only applies from the fix pack
levels listed below onwards.  Removing an earlier fix pack will
continue to exhibit the described behaviour.
