IT34375: PCOMM V14 (64-BIT) CRASHES WHEN DRAGGING OR REARRANGING TOOLBAR ICONS

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • As soon the user tried to move a toolbar symbol (via
    right-click and drag) to another position in the toolbar, PCOMM
    window closes for some reason.
    
    Noticed in Task Manager that
    pcscm.exe is hanging.
    
    The following errors are seen in the
    application events logs pointing to PCSTBAR.DLL
    module.

Problem summary

    Below are the steps to reproduce the above problem:
    
    1. Launch PCOMM 5250 session and login
    2. Select any tool from the Toolbar and drag using Right click
    to any other position.
    3. After some time PCOMM will crash.
    4. Open the Task Manager, PCSCM.exe is hanging
    

Problem conclusion

  • This issue occurred due to the return type mismatch after the
    64-bit migration.
    Changes have been made in PCSTBAR.DLL to handle the function
    prototype with the required Data Type.
