Error description

• Error Description:
  IBM Spectrum Protect backup-archive client or IBM Spectrum
  Protect Client Services fail to start if IPV4 protocol is not
  installed on the system.
  
  The client GUI splash screen hangs and dsmj.log shows a stack
  like this:
  
  Exception in thread ?main? Java.Lang.Error: IP Helper Library
  GetIpAddrTable function failed
  
  The CAD service fails to start and ends with error:
  
  ANS0361I DIAG: Error creating TCP/IP acceptor socket, errno =
  10047
  
  ANS0361I DIAG: acceptorInit: Error -50 initializing comm object.
  
  and the dsmerror.log file shows the following error:

Local fix

• Local Fix:
  Install on the system the IPV4 protocol and keep it disabled if
  only IPV6 is required.
  Refer to the system administrator for specific platform
  instructions.

Problem conclusion

• IBM Spectrum Protect BA client uses TCP IP v6 and v4 for the
  interprocess communication (CAD <-> Agent, CAD <-> Scheduler,
  Agent <-> GUI). In pure TCP v6 enivronment (the TCP v4 is
  removed) backup-archive client fails to use TCP v4 and exits
  with errors. The code was changed to issue an information
  message that TCP v4 is not available and continue processing.
