APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A sender channel to a z/OS queue manager reported unexpectedly
    high values for NETTIME.

NETTIME is a value calculated when the channel has MONCHL set
    to LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH.

Local fix

  • Apply z/OS APAR PH29093 if appropriate

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users who have connections between z/OS and Distributed queue
managers and who use the NETTIME channel status attribute may be
    affected by this problem.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The NETTIME parameter of channel status was set to an
unexpectedly large value. This problem was caused by the IBM MQ
code performing a calculation using the elapsed processing time
provided by z/OS which resulted in a negative value. z/OS APAR
    PH29093 documents this issue.

As a result of the incorrect calculation then NETTIME ends up
being displayed as a large value in runmqsc.

Problem conclusion

  • APAR PH29093 on z/OS corrects the issue so that IBM MQ on
Distributed no longer receives the invalid data. This APAR
corrects the IBM MQ Distributed code so that it is no longer
possible for a negative result to be calculated if invalid data
    is received.
