APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If one removes certain components from a Windows 9.1 LTS
    installation (e.g., MFT), this can make the web console
    unusable.

Local fix

  • MQ v9.1 - Uninstall and reinstall the web feature or look to
    modify Installation again, but do not change anything. This
    should put back the WebConsole/REST API binary files.
    MQ v9.2 - Uninstall and reinstall the web feature or look to
    update the file <MQ_program_directory>\web\etc\server.env reads:

    ########
    # comment block
    ########
    WLP_SKIP_UMASK=true

    and needs to have two lines added at the end:

    JAVA_HOME=<MQ_program_directory>\java\jre
    WLP_USER_DIR=<MQ_data_directory>\MQ\web\installations\<MQ_instal
    lation_name>

    eg. The file contents need to look like:
    ########
    # comment block
    ########
    WLP_SKIP_UMASK=true
    JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\IBM\MQ\java\jre
    WLP_USER_DIR=C:\ProgramData\IBM\MQ\web\installations\Installatio

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    If you install MQ Server on Windows, and then look to modify the
    installation by adding/removing features. The result is that the
    MQ WebConsole binary files are removed or will no longer run.

    eg.

    C:\dspmqweb
    'dspmqweb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.

    or

    C:\dspmqweb
    '"java"' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    "java"
    '"java"' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    "java"

Problem conclusion

  • The Installation process has been updated to prevent the Web
    Console binary files being removed or them being unable to run
    after modifying an existing installation adding/removing
    features from the installation.
