IT33781: MAINTENANCE JOB TAKING LONGER TO COMPLETE AFTER UPGRADE TO V10.1.6

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After upgrading to IBM Spectrum Protect Plus version
    10.1.6,
    you may experience the maintenance job taking longer to
    
    complete. The duration of the job appears to be dependent
    on
    the resources available to the vSnap because the increase
    in
    time has been from roughly one hour to multiple hours.
    The
    vSnap resources is not the reason for the additional time
    to
    the maintenance job. Adding additional resources only
    masks
    the issue being reported.
    
    The maintenance job runs once
    a day to remove resources and
    associated objects that are
    created by IBM Spectrum Protect
    Plus when a job that is in a
    pending state is deleted.
    
    To see if you encountering this
    issue, review the maintenance
    joblog and check the Summary line
    found at the bottom of the
    log. Reviewing the previous version
    of Spectrum Protect Plus you
    will see something similar to the
    following:
    
    SUMMARY,...,CTGGA2340,Job policy Maintenance
    completed in
    5 min(s) 35 sec(s) and ended with status
    COMPLETED.
    
    After the upgrade to 10.1.6, you will notice a
    significant
    increase is time to complete:

    1
    hr(s) 25 min(s) 58 sec(s) and ended with status PARTIAL.

Problem conclusion

  • Reduce the number of calls to the vSnap storage. It may take 2-3
