Error description
In Hyper-V server, two virtual machines may have duplicate disk UUIDs if one is cloned from another. The command "get-disk|fl" returns identical UniqueId field values. The backups of both virtual machines are successful, however, both instant restore and file restore may fail. For example, two virtual machines are vm-1 and vm-2. Instant restore of vm-1 mounts the snapshot of vm-2 and returns mount error: INFO,1591148184313,<date time timezone>,2,CTGGA1312,Mounting VM vm-2 disks DETAIL,1591148186427,<date time timezone>,2,CTGGA1314,Released lock for VM (vm-2). DETAIL,1591148186486,<date time timezone>,2,CTGGA2185,Mount VM disks: Failed (1 objects) ERROR,1591148186489,<date time timezone>,2,CTGGA2177,Unexpected error during recovery step (Mount VM disks). Contact support for further assistance. File restore display following error: DETAIL,1591151224282,<date time timezone>,2,CTGGA3139, [vm-1-ip] Start File Restore ERROR,1591151248092,<date time timezone>,2,CTGGA3085, [vm-1-ip] Failed to restore file \\?\c:\ProgramData\SPP\mnt\SPPR_d30f539ba45311eaa2ba00155d001906 _1591102893382_1591151026397\1.txt. DETAIL,1591151248099,<date time timezone>,,2,CTGGA3140, [vm-1-ip] File Restore end Above error only happens if the file exists on one of the duplicate UUID disks but not the other. So in some circumstances the file restore may complete with the wrong virtual machine's disk used in the case where the file is present on both disks. Versions Affected: 10.1.*
