IT33499: IDENTICAL MICROSOFT SQL SERVER DATABASES NAMES IN THE AD HOC BACKUP WIZARD

Error description

• For Microsoft SQL server database backups using the Spectrum
  Protect Plus GUI Ad hoc backup wizard, in the section 'Select
  source type'->'Select source', the SQL databases names are
  listed without their owning instance name.
  This can become
  confusing when having multiple Microsoft SQL server instances
  and needing to save system databases like 'Msdb' which will
  appear as many times (as?) there are instances.

Local fix

• To be sure to select the intended database for backup, got to
  :
  'Manage Protection'->'Applications'->'SQL'
  Then click on the
  needed Microsoft SQL Server instance name and select the
  desired database name.
  Associate the SLA and options and click
  'run'.

Problem conclusion

• IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Ad hoc backup wizard has been enhanced
  to display the location of the databases during search.  This
  will provide the necessary information to uniquely identify
  databases with the same name across multiple Microsoft SQL
  instances.
