APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • JMSOutput node may throw java.lang.NullPointerException once the
    connection to the JMS Provider is lost. This
    java.lang.NullPointerException can obscure the real root cause
    of the problem. The system log file will get logged with a
    BIP4395E error message.
    
    BIP4395E: Java exception: 'java.lang.NullPointerException';
    thrown from class name:
    'com.ibm.broker.jmsclienthelper.JMSClientHelper', method name:
    'sendOutputMessage', file: 'JMSClientHelper.java'

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    All users of IBM AppConnect Enterprise V11.0 and IBM Integration
    Bus V10.0 using the JMSOutput node.
    
    
    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform
    
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    The JMSOutput node may throw java.lang.NullPointerException once
    the connection to the JMS Provider is lost. This
    java.lang.NullPointerException can mask the real root cause of
    the problem.
    
    The system log file will contain the following  BIP4395E error
    message.
    
    BIP4395E: Java exception: 'java.lang.NullPointerException';
    thrown from class name:
    'com.ibm.broker.jmsclienthelper.JMSClientHelper', method name:
    'sendOutputMessage', file: 'JMSClientHelper.java'
    

Problem conclusion

  • The product now correctly logs the connection related exception
    instead of java.lang.NullPointerException from the JMSOutput
    node.
