IT33219: BACKUP MAY FAIL WHEN A VIRTUAL MACHINE'S PATH TO A .VMDK CONTAINS MULTI BYTES CHARACTER

Error description

  • Backup may fail when a VM's path to a .vmdk contains multi
    bytes character, like EN DASH (hex UTF-8 E2 80 93).
    
    CTGGA0076,Unprotected vm: <vm multi bytes char name>. Last
    error: [You do not have access rights to this file (evddk-13)]
    
    The REST call from Spectrum Protect Plus to proxy's microservice
    is not properly encoded to have character preserved. And proxy
    log shows question mark instead of correct multi bytes
    character:

Problem conclusion

  • This problem has been fixed so that after encountering condition
    of backup failure due to a VM contains multiple bytes character
    in path to its vmdk, the new behavior is the backup completes
    successfully.
