APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the source queue of a transfer request is empty, and the
fteCreateTransfer command is used to transfer a group of
messages by specifying the -sqgi flag, the transfer result is
indicated as successful and a zero byte file is created instead
of resulting in a failed transfer with an appropriate message.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the MFT when performing a transfer
from a source Queue to a destination file/directory.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    If you have the following:

    - A Source Queue that does not contain any messages.
    - Create a new Transfer request from this Source Queue to file.

The transfer will complete without error and an empty file will
be created on the destination side. This behaviour is incorrect
since there was nothing to transfer and should not have created
a file on the destination side. The transfer should fail
indicating that no messages have been transfered.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been changed to prevent the creating of a file on
the destination agent, when the Source queue is empty and
returns an error indicating no message found on the queue.

    eg.
BFGIO0414E: No messages exist on queue "LQ1@QM1".
