  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus backup fails due to duplicate UUID.

VM 'ABC' and VM 'ABC_Adm' have the same
UUIDs within VMware.

IBM Spectrum Protect Plus versions affected: 10.1.4 and 10.1.5

Local fix

  • Move the VM's to separate SLA or Contact VMware for steps to
change the UUID

Problem conclusion

  • The fix for this issue is to use the VM key in all backup
operations which is guaranteed to be unique instead of VM UUID
which is not.
