• VM backup can fail while performing catalog/index of
  files on the VM guest.
  
  The VM backup job log may show the following when
  catalog/index operation fails:
  
  CTGGA0490,File catalog Discovery failed for YOURVM).
  Failed to retrieve null from 1.2.3.4. e=2: No such file
  
  CTGGA0420,Catalog file discovery results failed. Server
  YOURVM file discovery result unavailable for cataloging.
  
  The command.log for the failing index operation may show
  the following error:
  
  UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xf3
  in position 234: invalid continuation byte
  
  The problem occurs because there is a non-UTF-8 character
  in a file name on the disk
