Error description

  • The db2sysc process is constantly consuming all CPU resources
    and the
Spectrum Protect server has no active process at that time. In
    addition high usage
of paging space, reaching up to 70% can be observed. If Spectrum
    Protect Server
process dsmserv is stopped, the DB2 process db2sysc CPU usage
    drops to 0.

From the output of instrumentation in servermon, or manually
    collecting instrumentation
with the "inst end" command, if the SQL output shows the
    following delete SQL execution
time against the sd_replicating_chunks table is more than half
    the instrumentation interval
     then this problem may exist.

    Example:
Instrumentation began 11:06:08.971 ended 11:25:57.111 elapsed
    1188.140
    ....
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    --------------
Execution Time: 1071.663 sec, Number of Executions: 2629,
    RowsReturned: 0
DELETE FROM TSMDB1.sd_replicating_chunks WHERE chunkid IN ( ?,
    ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ? ) -- 73
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    --------------

In the above case, the SQL execution time of 1071.663 seconds is
much more than half of 1188.140 seconds.

    Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
Spectrum Protect Server 8.1.7.0 and above on all platforms

    Initial Impact:
    Medium

    Special Activity:
    | MDVREGR 8.1.7.0-TIV_5698ISMSV |
