APAR status

Error description

  • The bipbroker process can become unresponsive despite consuming
    100% CPU, or take unreasonably long amounts of time to perform
    a deploy manager cache refresh if a converter cache corruption
    event occurs.
    
    The converter cache has been re-written from the
    ground up to avoid such cache corruption events.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    The product uses a number of converters to convert text between
    different encoding formats, such as UTF-8 and UTF-16. These
    converters are cached on a per-thread basis for performance.
    This cache can become corrupted in the bipbroker process which
    can cause it to become unresponsive despite consuming 100% CPU,
    or take unreasonably long amounts of time to refresh its
    internal cache of all the currently deployed and configured
    state, or can cause abends.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The converter cache has been re-written to improve performance
    and reduce the possibility of cache corruption occuring.
