Error description

  • On a DPF system it is possible for Db2 to generate a malformed
    history file entry when a backup is interrupted (e.g. by
    Ctrl-C). At restore time, Db2 is unable to process this history
    file entry and, depending on the layout of certain internal data
    structures, will generate SQL1224 or SQL2056.

    User response:
    The bad history file entry will have a sequence number of 000
    and an empty Location. For example:

    Op Obj Timestamp+Sequence Type Dev Earliest Log Current Log
    Backup ID

Local fix

  • You can make the Db2 Restore utility ignore this entry by
    changing its Status to "D" (Deleted).

    $ db2 connect to foo
    $ db2 update history eid 11 with status "D"
