APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the value of SP_THRESHOLD is set to a size so the system is
considering sizes in kilobytes then it is possible for a dbspace
/ chunk to fall below this threshold but a significant amount
but the chunks stored in the storage pool might be rejected
because of their size.

Imagine that there are NNN chunks added to the storage pool
which are all 3000 kb in size and SP_THRESHOLD is 10000 kb and
there is chunk which is initially 16000 kb in size.

If a very large table is created in that chunk so that the free
space is very low or approaching zero, then the system ignores
all of the entries in the storage pool (i.e not even one of size
3000 will be added).

The argument is that the processing should have added NNN
storage pool chunks to the dbspace when it fell significantly
below the value of SP_THRESHOLD.
