APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The Informix server may take a long time to start on Unix /
    Linux OS platforms when the instance has many hundreds of
    chunks. When started with the command oninit -v the delay will
    be seen at the message "Opening primary chunks ..." In the
    message log the time delay will be evident between these
    messages:
    
    15:52:41  IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 12.10.FC12W1
    Software Serial Number AAA#B000000
    16:01:36  IBM Informix Dynamic Server Initialized -- Shared
    Memory Initialized.
    
    Depending on the type of chunk used, for example cooked file or
    raw disk volume, the delay may extend to several minutes.
    Certain OS platform versions, such as Solaris 11, may also have
    other factors which contribute to this startup delay.
