Error description

  • A problem introduced in IBM Spectrum Protect Backup-Archive
    Client versions 7.1.8 and 8.1.2 prevents the Java GUI from being
    used to delete archive and backup data. This problem occurs when
    all of the following conditions are true:

      * The backup-archive client version is 7.1.8 or higher, or
        8.1.2 or higher

      * The backup-archive client connects to an IBM Spectrum
        Protect server version 7.1.8 or higher, or 8.1.2 or higher

      * PASSWORDACCESS PROMPT is in effect

    When the above conditions are true, then when menu item
    "Utilities -> Delete Archive Data..." or "Utilities -> Delete
    Backup Data..." is selected, the following message is displayed:

      ANS2624E This operation requires client owner authority

    Another symptom of this problem is that when menu item
    "File -> Connection Information" is selected, the information
    shows "Authority Level: None". The expected information is
    "Authority Level: Client Owner".

    Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
      * Backup-Archive Client version 7.1.8 or higher
      * Backup-Archive Client version 8.1.2 or higher

    Initial Impact: Low

    Additional Keywords: TSM TS002091479   dsmj

Local fix

  • Use either of the following methods to work around this problem:

      * Use PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE instead of PASSWORDACCESS PROMPT
      * Use the command line interface instead of the Java GUI
