Error description

  • On the IBM MQ appliance, the mechanism by which the queue
    manager
status is queried when REST URI /mgmt/status or show qm-status
is used is by initiating multiple product command sequences
internally to obtain the information. This can cause performance
    overheads.

Additionally, if queue manager status is queried after an
appliance restart, a transient HA state may result in a blank
status being reported for an HA queue manager.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All IBM MQ Appliance users who query queue manager status using
the REST API or show qm-status.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When queue manager status is queried using REST or through the
show qm-status it took longer than expected to fetch the
output. The overheads of inefficiencies in this command were
apparent in the overall system resource usage when a large
number of HA queue managers were defined and their status
queried. Also, when the HA queue managers are in a transient
state following a system reboot the HA status was sometimes
    displayed as blank.

Problem conclusion

  • The design of the status checking logic has been modified to
improve the performance and it ensures that the transient states
are handled correctly and a valid HA status is displayed to the
    user.
