APAR status

Error description

  • A backup session which is either from from a lan-free client or
    a proxy could display the following messages in the activity log
    :
    
    ANR0162W Supplemental database diagnostic
    information:-1:22001:-99999 ([IBM][CLI Driver] CLI0109E String
    data right truncation. SQLSTATE=22001). (SESSION: 987654)
    ANR0399I Session 12345 for node
    12345_XYZ_SOMENODENAME123_ABCDEF_1234_ABC has ended a proxy
    session for node 12345_XYZ_SOMENODENAME123_ABC
    
    The length combined is longer than the 64 characters allowed in
    a node name causing the truncation warning whilst attempting to
    get the platform for this node.
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable)
    Obtain a server trace using classes adm sql dbstmt dbcmd dbexec
    to determine the node name being queried.
    
    Example of the output seen :

    There are a few different symptoms, but these problems only
    happen if the backup session is either from a lan-free client or
    from a proxy.
    
    1 - Length of the node name plus the length of the storage agent
    or the length of the proxy node exceeds 64 characters in length.
    
    2 - The dsmffdc.log displays :
    
    (admutil.c:8917) Could not execute sql to get platform name in
    Nodes for node=12345_XYZ_SOMENODENAME123_ABC
    (12345_XYZ_SOMENODENAME123_ABCDEF_1234_ABC), 2332
    
    The node name in the example above shows that message is the
    concatenation of the node name and either the storage agent name
    or the proxy node name in parenthesis.
    This problem will happen in all cases of using the lan-free or
    proxy node backup.
    
    3 - Based on symptom example #2, it can also mean a
    determination cannot be made if the bytes in the backup are in a
    reasonable range for ransomware monitoring for that node.
