Error description
ANS1071E Invalid domain name entered is seen when trying to perform a scheduled incremental backup, the domain name shown in the ANS1071E is not a valid mount point name and may not be consistent, different invalid names may be displayed. A manual backup displays an 'ANS1149E No domain is available for incremental backup. The domain may be empty or all file systems in the domain are excluded. ' message instead of the ANS1071E message. For example: ANS1071E Invalid domain name entered: 'Pj¦ Note that the name logged isn't consistent: ANS1071E Invalid domain name entered: '···' ANS1071E Invalid domain name entered: ' p4' ANS1071E Invalid domain name entered: ' ··' Customer/L2 Diagnostics: A service trace will show that It appears that the client is 'interpreting' the FS mount point as something else. The FS mount point of / for root appears fine in the mount listing from the trace: 04/01/2019 18:25:09.261 [020606] [674420512] : linux/psstatfs.cpp ( 781): ====>Add FS mount point:/, FS type:ext4, mount options:rw, excluded: no, mntType: 1, lofs: no, special:/dev/sda2, UseStrCmp:no. But, when adding the filespace, '/' has become '·5'. 04/01/2019 18:25:09.263 [020606] [674420512] : psfsinfo.cpp ( 960): Real mount point: '·5' of type: 1 04/01/2019 18:25:09.263 [020606] [674420512] : psfsinfo.cpp ( 963): GetFSList(): adding ·5 to domain list This behavior occurs due to duplicate mounts in the /etc/mtab file. The duplicate mounts in /etc/mtab results in a /etc/mtab size which is larger than the /proc/mounts size, causing the mount table inside the running SP client process to become corrupted. Initial Impact: Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 81L Additional Keywords: TS002075488
Local fix
Review the /etc/mtab file and remove any duplicate mounts to avoid /etc/mtab being larger than /proc/mounts.
