APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A MQ .NET application failed to connect to Queue Manager while
    sending userid without password. The .NET client reports a
    message similar to the following:
    
    Connecting to queue manager..Exception caught:
    System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an
    instance of an object.
    At IBM.WMQ.MQQueueManager.Connect
    

Local fix

  • Modify the application to either pass both the userid and the
    password, or neither.
    

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    This issue affects MQ .NET applications which provide a user ID
    to the connect call but do not provide a password.
    
    
    Platforms affected:
    Windows

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    A defect in the connect call logic meant that a null password
    value was not handled correctly if a user ID was set.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ .NET classes have been updated to correctly handle the
    case where a user ID is provided with a null password.
