Error description

  • A redirected restore to a new machine / instance may fail with
SQL5133N The configuration parameter was not updated because the
specified value is not valid. Specified value: "ENABLE".
    Configuration parameter name: "automatic_storage".

The message lead to believe that the database was created with
"AUTOMATIC STORAGE NO". This could be induced by a discrepancy
between the two files used to keep database configuration
    (NODE00xxx/SQLDBCONF and NODE00xxx/MEMBER0000/SQDBCONF). Though
this is valid, and was allowed on older releases (before version
11.1). Thus, to hit the issue, the database should have been
migrated forward from a pre 11.1 version. In version 11.1, both
files are kept in sync for DPF and Serial. The thing to remember
is that the effective setting comes from the MEMBERXXXX
directory for this parameter, since this parameter is not marked
as global. The automatic storage enabled database creation flag
is true in NODE00xxx/SQLDBCONF and false in
    NODE00xxx/MEMBER0000/SQDBCONF.

This APAR will catch this potential discrepancy an avoid the
    error being raised.
