Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    All users of IBM Integration Bus version v10 or App Connect
    Enterprise v11 using  LDAP for authentication or authorization.
    
    
    Platforms affected:
    z/OS, MultiPlatform
    
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    It's seen that when the LDAP server fails to respond, the
    messageflow thread waits indefinitely causing a hang. There are
    no timeout options available in the product to avoid the
    indefinite wait when LDAP server fails to respond within a
    timeout period.
    

Problem conclusion

  • There are 2 timeout options made available in the product
    through following environment variables
    
    1)
    
    MQSI_LDAP_CONNECT_TIMEOUT
    
    The value to be set in milliseconds. If the product cannot
    establish a LDAP connection within the specified value, it
    aborts the connection attempt.
    
    eg : export MQSI_LDAP_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=60000 (This sets a connect
    timeout value of 60 seconds)
    
    2)
    
    MQSI_LDAP_READ_TIMEOUT
    
    The value to be set in milliseconds. If the product doesn't get
    an LDAP response within the specified period, it aborts the read
    attempt.
    
    eg: <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)">export
    </span><span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255,
    255)">MQSI_LDAP_READ_TIMEOUT=60000 (Makes the product wait only
    60 seconds for responses from LDAP)</span>
