IT28308: PARTIAL RECALL OF HSM MIGRATED DATA FAILS DUE TO INCORRECT OFFSET CALCULATION

Error description

• Partial recall can fail due to incorrect offset calculation
  This can result in an incorrect shift of 1 bit which makes
  the data unusable. All types of IBM Spectrum Protect
  for Space Management (HSM)  data migrated before
  version 6.2 can run into this situation. Full recall of the
  same data is successful.

  Although there is no work around to the partial recall
  failure, full recall of The file is successful. Until
  a fix is available, perform a full recall to get the
  data you need.

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed so that it no longer occurs.
  In addition to the code fix that will by default differentiate
  between different space management (HSM) client migrated file
  data stream types, a new string value testflag ("testflag
  IT28308:YYYYMMDDhhmmss") has been introduced where
  YYYYMMDDhhmmss is the year, month, day, hour, minute, and second
  that the first file was migrated with HSM client version 6.2 or
  later. This testflag is going to be used in case the old
  migrated file data attributes are updated by a newer HSM client
  version reconciliation processing in the meanwhile.
