APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the IBM MQ Appliance mqerr:// file system is full then the
queue manager may stop and restart repeatedly, without reporting
an error, until file system space becomes available.

Local fix

  • If the mqcli "status" command shows that any of the queue
manager file systems are full then investigate what has caused
them to fill. Move and/or remove any large files (such as FDCs)
which may contribute to filling the file system

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of the IBM MQ Appliance who use HA queue managers may be
    affected by this issue.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
During queue manager startup, a symbolic link is made from the
QMGR errors directory to the internal errors file system. If
this file system is full then the symbolic link cannot be
created and queue manager startup fails. If the queue manager
on the remote HA node is also unable to start then the HA
subsystem repeatedly attempts to start the queue manager and
fails. There are no obvious errors to suggest what has gone
    wrong.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM MQ code has been modified so that symbolic links are
created on both nodes when the HA queue manager is first
created, rather than deferring the creation of these links to
    strmqm.
