APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Under certain conditions if a cluster sender channel process
terminates unexpectedly, the cluster repository manager cache
may not get informed of the state change. If the channel status
table and cluster cache information remain out of sync, it may
lead to incorrect product behaviour based on the repository
manager believing that the channel is running.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Customers using clustering that encounter an unexpected channel
    process termination are potentially affected.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The repository manager maintains a cache of channel status
information for cluster channels, the cache is normally updated
when the channel status table is updated. Under certain
circumstances, following an unexpected channel termination, the
cached copy of this data may become out of sync with the status
table. The stale cache data may lead to incorrect product
    behaviour in cluster related operations.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic was corrected to ensure that the cluster cache would
be updated in step with the channel status table after handling
abnormal termination of a channel MCA.
