Error description

  • After the unexpected termination of an MQ process, the following
FDC is generated when using message selectors.

    | Probe Id :- KN481067
                                                        |
    | Application Name :- MQM
                                                      |
    | Component :- ksiGetCachedSelectionTree
                     |
    ...
    | Major Errorcode :- xecL_W_SEM_OWNER_DIED |
    ...
    | Arith1 :- 276848761 (0x10806079)
                                   |
    | Comment1 :- Bad RC from xcsRequestMutexSem |

This FDC indicates that the process holding lock on selection
table has died without releasing the lock. This could lead to
hang in endmqm command without any FDC or error returned

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
MQ users using SelectionString may be affected.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
An error in MQ's recovery logic when handling a dead process
meant that lock resources were not fully cleaned up after the
    dead process was detected.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been modified to correctly clean up on detection of
    a dead process.

This fix addresses only the handling of dead processes, and does
not prevent process termination due to user interaction or other
    unrelated code defects.
