Error description

  • We are testing PCOMM V13 and several early testers are having a
problem with the RECEIVE function. The "Receive File Status"
pops up and stalls until the session times out.

They are doing the RECEIVE while in ISPF option 6 "ISPF Command
Shell" under z/OS 2.3. They say it used to work in PCOMM V6.

PCOMM V13 RECEIVE works from the READY prompt. Should it also
work from the "ISPF Command Shell"?

We also tested PCOMM 13.0.2 (the latest available) and have the
    same problem.

Mod5 and OPT 0 set to data does not work.
Mod5 and OPT 0 set to std works.
Mod5 and OPT 0 set to max works.

Mod2 and OPT 0 set to data works.
Mod2 and OPT 0 set to std works.
Mod2 and OPT 0 set to max works.

Local fix

  • TN3270EContentionResolution=N worked on a 27x132 screen using
TSO Screen format 1 ( Data)

Problem conclusion

  • This issue is caused by thread synchronization failure post
Microsoft Creators updates for Windows 10 OS. PCSXFER.DLL has
been changed to remove thread synchronization as Microsoft
    Windows handles the required logic.

Fix is scheduled for PCOMM 13.0.2.1 and 12.0.4.2 Fix Packs
