APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a channel is in retry mode, the queue manager attempts to
    start the
channel based on the short/long retry intervals that are
    configured. However if
a 'PING CHANNEL' command is executed when the channel is in
    retry mode then the queue
manager will not attempt to start the channel as expected.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Any user using retry feature of the channel would experience
that the retry was skipped at the time of PING CHANNEL command.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When a PING CHANNEL command was used, the start time of the
channel would be set to the current time which interfered with
    the channel retry logic.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ channel logic has been modified not to set the start time
as the current time if a PING CHANNEL command updates the
status. The original start time is now kept in the channel
    status.
