APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using IBM MQ Appliance v9.1, if DNS reverse lookup is enabled
and the DNS servers become unreachable, an appliance
reload may occur leaving queue managers in a partitioned state.

Local fix

  • Disable the Reverse DNS lookup

Problem summary

USERS AFFECTED:
MQ Appliance users who run queue managers with reverse DNS
lookup enabled.


Platforms affected:
MultiPlatform

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
This problem may occur if the DNS server configured on the MQ
Appliance is not reachable and as a result the reverse DNS
lookup call fails to complete on time.

Problem conclusion

  • The code is modified to prevent the reload caused by the failure
in completing the reverse dns lookup.
