IT27101: MAPPING NODE CAN FAIL TO EXECUTE MAPS WITH CUSTOM ESQL/JAVA DUE TO INCORRECT PARAMETER TYPES

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A Mapping node can fail to execute a maps that include Custom
  ESQL/Java transforms with an exception of the following form
  being reported:
  
  BIP4187', 'value has wrong type', '<ESQL routine
  name>','<required type>', 'CHARACTER'
  
  The issues occur when the custom routines called from the map
  have parameters that require types other than simple string/ESQL
  CHARACTER.
  
  Even if the map does not fail the problem prevents the runtime
  from generating the map Java byte code meaning it's execution
  will not be optimized.
  

Local fix

• It might be possible to avoid the issue by replacing Custom ESQL
  / Java transforms with Custom XPath transforms.
