  sufficiently clear that only JSON objects or JSON arrays may be
  used for the root value type. The JSON parser will not allow a
  message consisting solely of a string, number, boolean, or null

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The documentation regarding the JSON parser and message format
  does not make it sufficiently clear that the JSON parser used in
  the product only supports outputting a JSON object or a JSON
  array as the root value type. It is not possible to output a
  JSON string, number, boolean, or null type value as the root
  JSON value.
  

Problem conclusion

• The product documentation has been updated to clarify this
  restriction on the supported types for the JSON root value.
