Error description

  • The Mailbox Add Service is erroneously showing a message_id was
    added to the mbx_message table when the identity value reaches
    999999999 on the NEXT_SESS_ARC_ID column in the
    ACT_SESSION_GUID table with MSSQL

    Problem Description:
    On any IBM Sterling B2B Integrator install with MSSQL DB, if the
    AUTOINCREMENT
    (identity) value of the NEXT_SESS_ARC_ID column in the
    ACT_SESSION_GUID table reaches max value (999999999) MSSQL
    throws
    "SQLServerException: Arithmetic overflow error" in the
    visibility
    log. Even though the Mailbox Add Service reports SUCCESS, it
    never actually INSERTS a record into the MBX_MESSAGES table.
    The Mailbox Add Service performs several database operations,
    all inside a Workflow transaction.
    
    One of these database operations involves generating a
    visibility session ID.  This ID is used to associate the
    visibility events with a Workflow.
    
    This operation is throwing the "Arithmetic
    overflow error" exception, causing in the entire Workflow
    transaction to be rolled back.
