Error description

  • When attempting to perform an include or exclude of VMDKs within
a specific SLA Policy, disks are not displayed in the VM view.
This situation only occurs when a user other than "ADMIN" is
used to perform the backup operation.
User will witness the defect within the Spectrum Protect Plus
    web interface by selecting:
      Hypervisor -> VMware -> Backup:
    - Change the view to "VMs and Templates"
    - Do a search for a VM that is related to a Policy, that already
    ran a backup.
    - Click on the server's name
    - The list returns empty with a blank space, the VMDK(s) are not
    listed
This defect is tied to the permissions associated with the new
user limiting the abilities to enumerate VMDKs
    Spectrum Protect Plus Versions Affected:
    Appliance version 10.1.1-xxx or prior
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
This is how we were able to recreate the problem:
    1. Register a vCenter on a 10.1.1-142 or older appliance.
    2. Create a user with backup only and restore only options with
    all resources enabled.
    3. Log in as the newly created user
    4. Navigate to Hypervisor-> Browse -> VM & Templates view
    5. Step down until you see the VMs in the tree view.
    6. Step into the VM view and the problem should surface.
    Initial Impact:
    Low
    Additional Keywords:
TS000938256, SPP, vmdk, SLA, missing, visible, vm, policy

Local fix

Problem conclusion
