Error description

  • When executing ESQL statement EVAL(user-defined property) and
this UDP is NULL, IIB exhibits inconsistent behaviour depending
on whether the service trace is
enabled. If it is enabled, an exception is thrown with an error
message "cannot convert NULL value to character". When the
service trace is turned off, there is no exception.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When executing an ESQL statement, EVAL (user-defined property)
and this UDP is NULL, IIB exhibits inconsistent behaviour
depending on whether the service trace is enabled. If it is
enabled, an exception is thrown with an error message "cannot
convert NULL value to character". When the service trace is
turned off, there is no exception.

Problem conclusion

  • The product behaves consistently with the service trace turned
on or off. The service trace no longer throws an exception.
