  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Empty (zero byte size) FFDC files are created by the MQ classes
for JMS and classes for Java. The content that should have been
written to those FFDC files is output to the application's
system error stream. This can happen for a number of different
    FDCs.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users for whom FFDC files are generated as a
result of some error having occurred in the MQ classes for JMS
    or classes for Java clients.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Empty FFDC files were written to the file system. The content
that should have been written to those FFDCs was written to the
application's System Error stream instead. This does not happen
every time an FFDC is generated, but can to occur for several
    different FFDCs.

The issue was caused by an exception being thrown while
generating header information for the FFDC with correctly
    productized titles for fields.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM MQ classes for JMS and classes for Java clients have
been updated with additional error handling when constructing
the FFDC header information. This will allow the FFDC content
to be written to the FFDC file that is created for the issue
    being reported.
