APAR status

Error description

  • Using automatic deployment to upgrade Windows B/A clients fails.
    Error messages similar to the following can be seen in setup.log
    file:
    
    Mon 03/05/2018 14:33:30.83 The deployclient.bat script is
    started.
    Mon 03/05/2018 14:33:30.83 deployclient.bat is removing the
    deployment manager and temporary files possiblly left from the
    previous installation.
    Mon 03/05/2018 14:33:30.95 Successfully parsed the parameters in
    the post schedule command.
    Mon 03/05/2018 14:33:31.12 scheduledeploy.bat script is started.
    Mon 03/05/2018 14:33:31.14 Calling at "14:34"
    "c:\TSM\IBM_ANR_WIN\V7165\updatemgr.bat"
    Mon 03/05/2018 14:33:32.01 scheduledeploy.bat script is exiting.
    Mon 03/05/2018 14:34:42.17 ANE4252E The setup script failed to
    start the deployment manager as a scheduled task with the
    Windows "at" command. Ensure that the Windows Task Scheduler
    service is running. It is possible that the system event log
    contains more details about the failure. Reschedule the client
    deployment.
    Mon 03/05/2018 14:34:42.18 The deployclient.bat script is
    exiting.
    
    This problem only occurs during the upgrade of Windows client
    systems.
    The problem is caused by the Windows "at.exe" utility. It is
    unstable and has been deprecated in some Windows versions. A
    different Windows scheduled task utility will be used for
    automatic deployment schedules.

    IBM Spectrum Protect Backup-Archive client v7.1 and v8.1 on

Problem conclusion

  • The 'at' command used to schedule a command, a script, or a
    program to run at a specified date and time has been deprecated,
    so 'schtasks' is the recommended command-line task scheduling
    tool.
