Error description

  • When using runmqras -section cluster on the IBM MQ Appliance,
the output zip file includes a "cluster" directory. This is
intended to include stdout and stderr output from using amqsbcg
(message browsing sample) to capture internal messages from the
    SYSTEM.CLUSTER.* queues.

However, on the MQ appliance the stdout output is empty, and the
stderr output reads: /bin/sh: /opt/mqm/samp/bin amqsbcg: No such
    file or directory .

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of IBM MQ running the runmqras utility with "-section
cluster" on the IBM MQ Appliance, or from an MQ installation
which does not have the MQ Samples component installed.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The amqsbcg sample application is not available on the IBM MQ
appliance. A similar issue is also seen on other platforms if
running runmqras with "-section cluster" from an installation
without the MQ Samples component installed.

The runmqras utility was designed to use the amqsbcg sample
application to collected internal state messages from the system
    cluster queues.

In both cases, when the amqsbcg sample is not available,
runmqras will fail to obtain information from the system cluster
    queues.

Problem conclusion

  • The runmqras utility has been modified to use the dmpmqmsg
utility, instead of the amqsbcg sample application, to collect
information from the system cluster queues on all platforms. The
dmpmqmsg utility is always present for MQ Server installations,
whereas amqsbcg is installed by the optional MQ Samples
    component.
