APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When upgrading the MQ Appliance from a version 9 firmware to a
more recent version 9 firmware the MQ Web UI dashboard
configuration disappears.

The WebUI displays the following message:

Dashboard: Detected dashboard persistence data from a previous
version.
The MQ Console has been started with the default configuration.

Local fix

  • Backup the WebUI dashboard prior to version 9 firmware
upgrade and restore configuration from backup after upgrade.

USERS AFFECTED:
Any users that created dashboard configurations on the MQ Web UI
of the MQ Appliance and then attempted to upgrade to a new
version 9 firmware of the appliance.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A logic omission within the firmware upgrade code caused a webUI
data file to be deleted when the appliance was upgraded to a new
firmware level, meaning users would see their dashboard
configurations deleted.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ Appliance firmware upgrade logic has been updated to
correctly preserve this data file.
