IT23890: IBM SPECTRUM PROTECT PLUS FILE LEVEL RESTORE OF EXISTING FILE FAILS WITH INCORRECT MESSAGING IN THE RESTORE JOB LOG.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • File level restores to the original location, or new
    location, in the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus dashboard,
    where the file exists and the option to over write was
    not selected will fail with incorrect messaging.
    Restore job log:
    Restore files: Failed to mount disks
    (C:/Users//Downloads/Test Document 1.txt) on host
    (IBMDemo1). Exception (java.lang.Exception) reports:
    (Not successful for operation)
    Restore files: Failed to restore files
    (C:/Users//Downloads/Test Document 1.txt).
    The output.json file (agent log) will show the correct
    error:
    "message":"Failed to restore files, err [The
     destination file [c:\\Restore/Test Document 1.txt]
     already exists]"
    The input.json file will show:

Problem conclusion

  • SPP has been updated to display the correct error message in the
    job log. When attempting a file restore and the overwrite
    existing file option is selected, the user will see the
    correct error message in the job log if the file exists.
