Error description

  • The MQ Fixpack installer crashes on Windows 2012 when clicking
the [Change] button to change the Backup Folder. The user will
see an APPCRASH error.

Local fix

  • Use the default backup location

Problem summary

USERS AFFECTED:
Users of MQ version 8 or later who are applying an MQ fix pack
on a Windows 64 bit system, and wish to change the default
backup directory.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A logic error in the installer code to select an alternate
directory caused an invalid memory access, which in turn caused
the installer to terminate prematurely.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ fix pack installer code has been modified to avoid this
illegal memory access.
